Temple of Jupiter

Dedicated to the God Jupiter, called dies pater, "shining father". He is a god of light and sky, and protector of the state and its laws. The temple is prostyle with 6 corinthian columns on the the front and 3 on each side. The steps are divided into 2 flights with the alter set on a center platform. Statues depitcting robed men on horses guard the entrance. Inside frescos decorate the walls and a bust of Jupiter sits at the end in a small miche
