The darkness was so vast it was almost impossible to see ones own hands infront of you. A small figure lay curled in a corner of the vast bulk that was their lifeline. Its hands where covering it's face, burying long fingers in the knotted hair. The monster swayed suddenly and the figure lurched with the unexpected motion. A small gasp of surprise escaped her lips but soon she was huddled in her corner again, arms wrapped tightly about her knees. The wail of the wind echoed her silent lament for the dead, load and noisy above her. Her small face looked up and she almost cried out in despair.
oh God help me she cried silently I can't get through this without you.
The tears threatened to overwhelm her again, she ha dthought she had cried herself dry, obviously not. She pushed her palms against her eyes trying to stop the flow of tears. She would not appear weak, she dare not.
Why me? Why not my brother? Why not my sisters or mother? Why me of so little faith?
She called out silently. She could not bear to remember her brothers scertain words the day before his death. God will save us, if not we die and go to be with him The next day he turned only to be impaled by a soldiers sword, her sisters suffered the same fate and yet she was spared. It was a cruel irony, to kill those who deserved to live and save one person at least to morn their passing. To feel their pain as if it was her own and wish that she could join them in paradise.
Suddenly a grinding noise could be heard on the bottom of the boat and the other prisioners cried out in joy. Haddasah suspected they had reached land, but where? Soon the door was opened and the prisioners where pushed down into the sunlight. She held her hands up to the light, sheltering her eyes. After being in darkness for so many days the light brunt her irises. She blinked, once and twice and took in her surrondings. Her ship was one of many being unloaded, raw materials and food was being unloaded from one, slaves from another. Their desolate faces and dirty clothes probably mirrored her own and she looked down to the ground. The chain at her wrists was yanked sharply and she bit back her retort of unapproval.
The others prisioners started walking and she followed, they passed under the cool shade of an arch way and into the bustling city.
